Aseptic Techniques in the Laboratory
Microorganisms are found all around us; on our hands, in the air, and on surfaces. Not all microorganisms are harmful to us, but some can cause disease. It is important to limit the spread of unwanted microorganisms, especially when working in the laboratory or with susceptible patients. To do this we can use aseptic techniques. In this pathway we will provide some of the key strategies of aseptic techniques, including personal protective equipment, setting up a clean workspace, and maintaining sterility while working.
